Getting Organized: Productivity, Tools & Systems Consulting

Are you trying to get yourself or your small business organized and more productive but struggling with choosing the right tools and setting up the right systems?

If so, you’re in the right place…

Whether you are a one-man show, a small business with five or ten employees, or a mega-corporation with hundreds or thousands of employees, you need tools and systems to deliver your products and services efficiently and–more importantly–to keep your company growing.

If you are reading this, chances are you are one of the former two. You are either a solopreneur or a small business owner.

You are great at serving your customers and getting your job done. However, you know you could be doing an even better job or serving more customers if you just managed to organize yourself better…

With your business growing fast and the digital productivity market growing even faster, questions like the below definitely start popping up in your mind:

  • Do you use Dropbox to store your files or do you use Google Drive?
  • Do you use pen and paper, Asana, or Todoist to track your tasks?
  • Do you use Trello or Notion to track your projects?
  • Do you use Evernote or OneNote to capture and organize your notes and ideas?

The list of questions like these goes on and on. Finding answers to the above is just the beginning, though.

Once you pick your tools, you are confronted with even more difficult questions. You have to decide how to use the tools:

  • What folder structure should you put in place? Or should you use tags instead?
  • What projects, categories, and so on should you set-up?
  • How should you be taking notes and storing them to find them when you need them?
  • How should you be storing the information you find online?
  • What documentation do you need to train your current and future staff?
  • How can you make sure people actually follow the systems you implement?
  • Why should you be doing all of the above in the first place?

Going back to the topic of productivity tools and systems, what makes matters worse is the fact that you are getting bombarded by ads promoting the latest productivity tools every single day. I’m sure you encountered this before…

You get started with one tool, and suddenly, while scrolling through Facebook, you are confronted by the “best productivity app that the world and the universe have ever seen…” Or you are confronted with a limited-audience, today-only, 50% discount on unlimited cloud storage service.

Do you stay the course or do you switch?

Throughout the years, I have seen solopreneurs and small business owners struggle with the above. Sometimes I have seen them make the right decisions, other times the not-so-right ones.

One of the issues I see the most often is placing too much importance on the tools themselves rather than the underlying processes.

And, to be honest, I was exactly the same. I kept jumping around from one tool to another until I realized that the tools weren’t the problem. The problem was me – and my way of using the tools.

The one benefit of jumping around the tools and going through the learning process was that I now understand what it takes to have a good set of processes and tools in place. Processes and tools that you and your team will use because they are simple enough but processes and tools that are ready to grow with your business at the same time.

Leveraging my past frustrations and mistakes, I can save you time and money by:

  • Creating an action plan – Assessing your current situation and creating a step-by-step action plan to get you from where you are now to your business being organized
  • Helping you select the right tools – Understanding your business and team, and helping you select the right set of task, project, and knowledge management tools
  • Putting in place the right processes for you – Helping you create the necessary systems and processes within the tools you use or that we select together that will ensure that the knowledge you gather during project will pay you dividends in the future as well
  • Answering your questions on the topic – A consulting session (at least one hour long) where I can answer any questions that you might have and we can discuss your struggles, questions to be submitted in advance so that I can do any necessary preparation

If you made it all the way here, you likely understand the problems I talk about. If that’s the case, why not start with a quick free chat to assess your situation?
